Serum cold-inducible RNA-binding protein (CIRP) levels as a prognostic indicator in patients with acute ischemic stroke

نویسندگان

چکیده

Background Acute ischemic stroke (AIS) is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality among cerebrovascular diseases. While animal studies have suggested a correlation between cold-inducible RNA-binding protein (CIRP) serum levels severity prognosis cerebral infarction, there has been lack research exploring this association in humans with infarction. Materials methods A total 148 patients diagnosed AIS within 7 days from symptom onset were included study. Comprehensive information regarding patients' basic demographics, medical history, clinical parameters, CIRP was collected. Follow-up data obtained through telephonic interviews or by reviewing notes for 3 months after discharged to assess functional outcomes treatment. Results The findings study demonstrated significant increase during early stages AIS, followed gradual decline days. Significant differences observed 1-day group 4–7 day ( P < 0.0047), as well 2–3 0.0006). Moreover, positive Higher associated more severe National Institutes Health Stroke Scale scores 0.05) larger infarction volumes 0.05). Furthermore, higher exhibited poorer modified Rankin scale These indicate that serves an essential pro-inflammatory mediator valuable biomarker assessing brain injury AIS. Conclusion suggest elevation are positively correlated serve indicators poor prognosis. Therefore, could target intervention while managing further should explore prognostic

Cold-inducible RNA-binding protein CIRP/hnRNP A18 regulates telomerase activity in a temperature-dependent manner

The telomerase is responsible for adding telomeric repeats to chromosomal ends and consists of the reverse transcriptase TERT and the RNA subunit TERC. The expression and activity of the telomerase are tightly regulated, and aberrant activation of the telomerase has been observed in >85% of human cancers. To better understand telomerase regulation, we performed immunoprecipitations coupled with...

Acute Phase Reactants as a Prognostic Factor in Acute Stroke

Introduction: Elevated levels of CRP are present among patients at risk for further first-ever myocardial infarction and stroke. It has been shown that after ischemic stroke, increased levels of CRP are associated with unfavorable outcomes. Methods: From 120 patients admitted to the emergency unit of our hospital with the diagnosis of stroke CRP, D-dimer and ferritin level was measured and the ...

The Cold-Inducible RNA-Binding Protein (CIRP) Level in Peripheral Blood Predicts Sepsis Outcome

OBJECTIVES Sepsis is a lethal and complex clinical syndrome caused by infection or suspected infection. Cold-inducible RNA-binding protein (CIRP) is a widely distributed cold-shock protein that plays a proinflammatory role in sepsis and that may induce organ damage. However, clinical studies regarding the use of CIRP for the prognostic evaluation of sepsis are lacking. The purpose of this resea...

Cold-inducible RNA-binding protein (CIRP) causes sepsis-associated acute lung injury via induction of endoplasmic reticulum stress

Cold-inducible RNA-binding protein (CIRP), released into the circulation during sepsis, causes lung injury via an as yet unknown mechanism. Since endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress is associated with acute lung injury (ALI), we hypothesized that CIRP causes ALI via induction of ER stress. To test this hypothesis, we studied the lungs of wild-type (WT) and CIRP knockout (KO) mice at 20 h after in...
